Mittens on Earth Hour

I observed Earth Hour with my family tonight. The house was so quiet; no electrical hum.
What did you do?

Left Behind - Mittens on Travel

I have mentioned my devotion to the boy, Eric. He is my favorite person in the house. I know the mom knows it because, well it is obvious. If the boy is home, I am with him.

This week started out as heaven for me. The boy was home - I couldn't have been happier. Then, all of a sudden I see the suitcase and he was gone. I hear the mom saying he is away in Boston and that he is having a good time.

I can't wait for him to come home.

New From Catster - Talking Avatars

Guest post from my roommate - Cloud

This is my happy face - I was thrilled to find that Caster has created talking cat avatars for web pages, ecards and blogs. It is especially thrilling this election season as I press for more investigation into the unreasonable hatred dog-only owners show to the cat kingdom.

Even Your CAT Has a Blog - CNN

I have been begging my owner to transcribe my view of the goings on around the house for months. I know she has been busy, and more than a little frustrated with her job search, but I have been patient long enough.

Tonight while reading CNN online I noticed this article: "Even your dog has a Blog" and I put my paw down.

It has been a snowy winter here in Ohio - in fact it is snowing tonight. I am an indoor cat so I have limited snow experience but since she keeps the house at 62 degrees I am well acquainted with cold. I have taken up residence in front of a heating vent and that seems to work just fine.

Judging from the level of stress here I suspect the economy is still on the down slide. She has been pounding out resumes and counting pennies. There are tears too.

She and the boy take good care of us though (me and Cloud, that is.) The food is regular and the litter box always clean.

Fa la la la Mittens

Happy holidays from Mittens and Cloud

No holiday stress and rushing for me - I finished my shopping last week. Tonight Cloud and I are cuddled up listening to Christmas carols.

Middle Class Taking a Financial Beating

I read the headline and sighed. I am not surprised - the new poor are members of the middle class.I see it everyday in my house - the family struggles to make ends meet. Parents are stressed; kids are stressed because they sense their parent's worry and fears.

I don't have a clue as to what the answer to this problem is but I suggest that sub-prime lending and the transfer of manufacturing jobs to China is the cause. I am not crazy about the credit reporting system either. It is nearly impossible to break out of the cycle of poverty once it takes hold.

Giving Thanks

Earlier today over mashing potatoes and baking pies I asked my owner to post a list of things I am grateful for this November day.

1. My family - especially Eric.

2. Heat - I love a roaring fire.

3. Food delivered at regular intervals.

4. Cable TV, the Food Channel and Michael Symon. Cleveland needed a winner and Michael delivered.
